Selling at PulpFest 2016

feb16e

Are you interested in selling at PulpFest 2016? If your specialty is pulp magazines, vintage paperbacks, first edition hardcovers, original art, series books, dime novels, men’s adventure, true crime, digest, or slick magazines, Big Little Books, B-movies, serials and related collectibles, old-time-radio shows, or Golden and Silver Age comic books, then PulpFest is for you.

The people who attend PulpFest are vintage pop culture enthusiasts. So it’s a great place to sell science-fiction books, mystery and detective fiction, adventure or western fiction, original artwork, and more. And it doesn’t have to be old! Publishers such as Adventures in Bronze, Age of Aces, and Murania Press do well selling their pulp reprints and related materials. So do resellers such as Mike Chomko, Books and Martin Grams. Authors and new pulp publishers such as Dick Enos, William Patrick Maynard, and Airship 27 have found PulpFest to be a great event to market today’s pulp fiction.

The spacious confines of the Battelle South exhibition hall on the third floor of the Greater Columbus Convention Center will enable PulpFest 2016 to have over 100 six-foot tables in its dealers’ room. Wall tables –which are limited — will cost $80 and island tables will be $70. Dealers will also be required to purchase regular three-day memberships for themselves and their helpers. For those dealers who will be staying at the Hyatt Regency Columbus, PulpFest is pleased to offer a third table free for every two tables that they rent, a tremendous savings. That’s buy two and get one free to thank such dealers for helping to defray the convention’s substantial costs by staying at the host hotel.

We’ll also be holding a random drawing for two free memberships to PulpFest 2017. Two lucky convention attendees — including dealers — who prepay for their membership, book a room for three nights at the Hyatt Regency, and choose to attend our business meeting will get free memberships to next year’s convention.

Our dealers’ room will be open at 10 AM on Friday, July 22, and remain open until 4:45 PM. We’ll also have hours on Saturday and Sunday, July 23 and 24. Please click the schedule button just below the PulpFest banner on our home page for more details. And don’t forget about our early-bird hours on Thursday evening, July 21, from 6 PM to 9 PM, when dedicated fans of pulp and genre fiction and art will enjoy an extra four hours of shopping.

Throughout the coming months, we’ll be writing about the dealers who will be selling at PulpFest 2016. Our marketing and programming director, Mike Chomko, will be putting these posts together and releasing them through our home page and social media sites. So if you’re planning to attend PulpFest 2016 as a dealer and would like to be included in this advertising campaign, please contact Mike by writing to mike@pulpfest.com.

(This 1965 newsstand — probably located in Boston, based on the newspapers displayed — would not have featured any pulp magazines. By that time, the pulps were gone, killed off by television, comic books, and most prominently, paperback books.

Although you can no longer find them on newsstands, the pulps are still with us. You’ll find thousands of them for sale at PulpFest 2016. Please join us July 21 through July 24 for “Summer’s AMAZING Pulp Con” in the Columbus, Ohio Arena district at the Hyatt Regency hotel and the city’s spacious convention center.)
