PulpFest

Book a Room at the Hyatt Regency

Amazing Stories 41-11 back Thursday, July 21 is fast approaching. That’s the date when “Summer’s AMAZING Pulp Con” will start at the Hyatt Regency and the Greater Columbus Convention Center in beautiful downtown Columbus, Ohio. Although there are many hotels where you can stay during PulpFest 2016, there are plenty more reasons that you should stay at the beautiful Hyatt Regency. Of course, the most important reason will be that you’ll be helping the convention to meet its substantial costs by staying at its host hotel.

The PulpFest dealers’ room in the spacious Battelle South exhibition hall on the third floor of the convention center will be open from 6 PM to 9 PM for early-bird shopping. PulpFest members who will be staying at the Hyatt for three nights will be admitted free of charge during our early-bird hours. For those members who will unfortunately be staying elsewhere, early-bird privileges can be purchased for an additional $10 through the end of June. The price will increase to $25 on July 2 and to $30 on July 21. Click the registration button below our home page banner to learn how to register for the convention.

But wait! In addition to free early bird shopping on Thursday, we’ll be holding a drawing at the close of our annual business meeting, scheduled for 9:20 PM on Saturday, July 23. Two lucky convention attendees who prepay for their membership, book a room for three nights at our host hotel, and choose to attend our business meeting will receive free memberships to PulpFest 2017. You must provide proof of your stay at the Hyatt Regency Columbus and be present at the drawing to receive your prize.

The Hyatt Regency Columbus is an extremely popular venue for conventions, including the World Fantasy Convention, the highly popular Origins Game Fair, and Matsuricon, the anime convention held in mid-August. That’s just one of many reasons that PulpFest has selected the Hyatt as its host hotel. Click the hotel button below our home page banner to learn more about this great venue.

You can reserve a room at the Hyatt Regency at the special convention rate of $118 per night plus tax, which includes one free parking pass and free Wi-Fi, if you do so by June 30, 2016. Additional cars will be charged at the discounted rate of $10 overnight with in/out privileges. There are two ways to place a reservation. You can book a room online at https://aws.passkey.com/g/51320979 or by clicking the link on the PulpFest home page that reads “Book a Room Now.” You can also call 1-888-421-1442 to book a room by telephone. Please be sure to mention PulpFest 2016 to get the special convention rate. By staying at the Hyatt Regency, you’ll help to ensure the convention’s success. Given its popularity, we urge every member to book a hotel room forPulpFest 2016 as soon as possible. As of June 21, the Hyatt Regency Columbus had only a small number of rooms available for July 21 through July 23.

In the heart of the active Arena District, the Hyatt Regency is just a few minutes’ walk from the trendy Short North Arts District. There are dozens of restaurants in the blocks surrounding the hotel. Ohio State University and various tourist attractions are also easily accessible.

If you have any problems, please write to PulpFest chairman Jack Cullers at jack@pulpfest.com.

(In PULP ART, published by Gramercy Books in 1997, Robert Lesser writes: “Frank R. Paul’s back covers, such as “Golden City of Titan” . . . are masterpieces of science fiction art. The artist’s training in architecture shows in all his work, but the style is unique. There is a two-dimensional flatness, as if the Italian Renaissance had never introduced perspective. Paul’s paintings border on primitive art; they are charming, and almost childlike in their imagination and sense of wonder.” Paul’s “Golden City of Titan” ran on the back cover of the November 1941 issue of AMAZING STORIESPulpFest 2016 will be celebrating the 90th anniversary of AMAZING — the first continuing science fiction magazine — at this year’s convention.)
